Social media can be an intimidating channel for small businesses. How do you get started? What can you do to attract more visitors to your page? These are the problems that Welborn faced with his first website, so he set out to find solutions. He discovered that with knowledge of Internet marketing, anyone can make their webpage more visible and attractive to potential customers.
Welborn explained that one crucial way to increase a company’s online presence is to use search engine optimization (SEO), the process of bumping your page to the top of search engine results. Several strategies for SEO include using keywords, linking with other webpages, and generating relevant content. Methods like this, said Welborn, increased the visibility of his first webpage from just 3 visitors in a week to the top of Google’s search results. With SEO, a website with no traffic can quickly get many more views for free! Welborn also covered the basics of several other techniques – targeting your demographic, managing online reputation, and monitoring web traffic with Google Analytics – that anyone can use to make their business a success online.
